How to adjust your glasses frames at home
Fine-tuning your frames typically happens after lenses are fitted — here’s what to expect. Frames are lightly adjusted at the factory. You may notice one temple sitting slightly higher than the other — this is normal and can be adjusted after lenses are fitted. Once prescription lenses are installed, the frame shape may shift slightly, and your optician will make a precise adjustment based on your face shape at that time.
If you purchased frames with lenses from us, we adjust the frame for symmetry and alignment after fitting the lenses. You can fine-tune it further based on your personal preference upon receipt. We periodically share frame adjustment tips on our blog.
How to clean and care for your glasses properly
Regular cleaning and proper care are essential for extending the life of your frames and lenses. Our recommendations:
- Always use a microfiber cloth to clean your lenses — avoid wiping with tissues or clothing.
- Rinse with cool water, gently wipe, and let air dry.
- Store your glasses in their case when not in use. Never place them lens-side down.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to high temperatures (e.g., on a car dashboard). Acetate frames may warp under extreme heat.
- Although pure titanium is corrosion-resistant, we recommend cleaning your frames promptly after exposure to sweat.
What should you NOT do when cleaning glasses? 6 common mistakes
- Don’t use your shirt (or any clothing) to clean your lenses. Dust and debris trapped in fabric can scratch the lenses.
- Don’t use paper towels or handkerchiefs. These materials are too abrasive for lenses and may cause micro-scratches. Dish towels or other dust-trapping fabrics can also scratch the lenses.
- Avoid household cleaners on your lenses. Many contain ammonia-based chemicals that can strip the lens coatings.
- Don’t leave your glasses on the bathroom counter during your routine. Hairspray and beauty products can leave residue on the lenses and damage the protective coatings.
- Never try to buff out scratches. Attempting to polish lenses will only create more scratches and further damage. If you need a scratch removed, take your glasses to a professional.
- Don’t leave your glasses in the car during hot or freezing weather. Extreme temperatures can damage lens coatings and may alter the shape of your frames.
